Dear Colleague,

During last month’s AGM, the question of Electronic Patient Record was discussed. One person aired his concern that data in our systems might have to be shared with the Public Service. We were asked to engage with the Department before we are faced with a fait accompli.  Since then I have gathered more information.

Several of us had been invited to see and give our input as to our requirements. We have given our suggestions and I am informed that these suggestions were indeed taken up by the PHC, through the system provider.

I am now attaching an explanatory letter from the Chief Information Officer of the Dept of Health.

I am also attaching a proposed Legal notice 263 of 2019 which merits attention.

I, and others, have some concerns about these two items and I shall be writing to the Medical Council for guidance.

On another note,

Since the migration to the new portal by POYC staff some colleagues may experience problems with online prescriptions via the POYC website . Problems may include:

  • patients not recognised as enrolled with the POYC system and
  • missing drugs in the list that patients are entitled to.

For these and any other problems with online prescriptions via POYC portal please contact Francesco on 22481852

We have had a fruitful meeting with the CEO Primary Care where we discussed more access to the Private FD. We will keep you updated. We have been asked to list the different Electronic Medical Records we use (eg: Transhis, GP Desk, Access etc.) Please give me what you use at president@apfd.info.

We have also been working on the PPP with the Dept of Psychiatry to follow up stable patients. These will all be from our own patients and we can choose whether to accept them. I am attaching Dr David Cassar’s explanatory note. A call for expression of interest will be issued in due course.

Regards to all
